Ed Gillum

I think it’s really cool that you’re spearheading this endeavor!

I was studying for my MFA from 1978 to 1981and was very fortunate to have been asked by Tom to step up and be his sabbatical replacement for 1981/1982. Those were wonderful and adventurous years in the MFA Program. We did work for a lot of visiting artists that spun off an NEA Grant that enabled us to work with established artists such as Red Grooms, Manuel Neri, Ernest Trova and Reuben Nakian to name a few. I am retired from teaching here at Fresno State where I ran the program and taught all levels of sculpture for 30 years after 7 years at Arizona State and 5 years at Montana State. I’ve spent this past year fighting multiple myeloma. I’m in remission, but I continue the chemo and have lost 50 pounds. I’m impressed and respect what you’re doing to honor Tom. I have let myself get out of touch with him and Linda. Hope they’re OK. I would love to hear more about how they are. I’ll do my best to get images of some of my more recent work. I want you to know that I’m interested and willing to participate in whatever you come up with. I would love an update.

Sincerely, Ed Gillum
